My Story
Food has always been more than just fuel for me—it’s been a language, a way to connect, and a tool for change.
Growing up in a family that centered meals around tradition, I found myself drawn to the kitchen early on. But when I transitioned to a vegan lifestyle in my mid-20s, I realized the recipes I knew and loved no longer aligned with the way I wanted to eat.
Instead of feeling limited, I saw it as an opportunity to innovate. I started creating plant-forward versions of family favorites, blending unexpected ingredients and methods to craft dishes that felt both familiar and exciting.
What started as curiosity quickly grew into a deep love for recipe development and creative cooking.
The Turning Point
One of the biggest sparks for me came while traveling abroad. Being immersed in new cultures and flavors opened my eyes to just how versatile plants could be.
I was struck by the boldness of spices, the creativity of street food, and the way simple, local ingredients could be transformed into unforgettable meals.
When I returned to Austin, I carried with me a passion for crafting recipes that celebrate vegetables as the main attraction—not substitutes or afterthoughts. It was the moment I stopped “replacing” and started truly creating.
What I Learned the Hard Way
In the beginning, I thought the key to vegan food was simply swapping out meat, cheese, and eggs for plant-based alternatives. But the truth was, those swaps didn’t always deliver the flavor or satisfaction I hoped for.
Friends were polite, but I could tell the food wasn’t hitting the mark. Through trial (and plenty of error), I learned that plant-based cooking isn’t about replacing—it’s about reinventing.
Once I embraced that mindset, my food transformed, and so did my confidence as a recipe developer.
My Approach Now
I believe recipes should be approachable, using ingredients people can actually find at their local grocery store. At the same time, I love pushing the boundaries—finding ways to elevate humble ingredients into showstopping meals.
Whether it’s developing high-protein vegan bowls, dairy-free comfort classics, or colorful spreads for entertaining, my goal is always the same: to make plant-based cooking both easy and exciting.
